Frequently asked questions

Direct answers on registration, vetting, matching, commercials and security posture. If your brief is not covered here, route it through info@vanguardselect.co.uk.

For candidates

How do I register?

Create your operative account via register.html. You receive a reference code immediately and must verify email before portal access. Complete your profile through the candidate pathway including SIA verification, CV, identity documentation and deployment preferences.

Which documents are required?

Minimum baseline includes valid SIA Close Protection licence evidence, government-issued photographic ID (passport or national identity document per eligibility), current CV, and any clearance or medical certifications material to your stated theatre. Where BS7858-style employment screening applies to a client brief, additional proofs may be requested. Upload only through the secure portal—documents are never served from public URLs.

How does vetting work?

Automated checks confirm licence status against authoritative registers where applicable. Vanguard Control reviews structured profile data, document consistency and operational history. High-grade placements may require enhanced verification aligned to principal risk. Outcomes are recorded against your profile; you see status movement in the portal rather than opaque silence.

How am I matched to roles?

Briefs carry structured requirements: environments, languages, clearances, geography, grade band and commercial envelope. The matching engine scores alignment—hard filters first, then weighted fit on skills and proven theatre. You are notified when a brief fits your profile; clients see only approved, graded candidates relevant to their mandate.

What close protection roles appear?

Open assignments span residential and corporate CP, UHNWI travel, hostile-environment deployments, maritime and event coverage where advertised. Grade bands from foundation through elite map to principal complexity. Not every role is public-listed; some mandates remain controlled distribution.

How do I get paid?

Vanguard Select is the recruitment and placement layer; commercial terms sit between you and the engaging principal or their payroll construct. Day-rate or salary mechanics, invoicing and PAYE status are agreed in your contract with the client or their representative. We do not withhold operative remuneration.

How long does the process take?

Account creation and email verification are immediate. Full profile completion depends on document readiness—typically days, not hours, when screening depth matches client tier. Client approval cycles for principal organisations vary; operative vetting for advanced grades may extend when references or clearances are pending.

For clients (principals)

How do I register as a principal?

Begin at client.html. You establish organisation credentials, outline sector context and security requirement shape, and submit for Vanguard Control approval. Until approval, data remains restricted to onboarding staff.

How are candidates vetted?

Every operative route passes licence verification, documentary checks and graded assessment. Higher tiers demand deeper employment history validation and, where justified, enhanced screening. You receive grading visibility and compliance artefacts appropriate to your mandate—not raw unfiltered applicant noise.

What does matching look like on my side?

You issue or approve a structured brief. Matched operatives appear against objective criteria; you shortlist, request interview and progress hires through the portal. The system favours defensibility for risk committees—clear rationale for each introduction.

Confidentiality of our requirements

Brief data is segregated by authorisation. Row-level controls ensure only personnel with legitimate allocation see principal-specific detail. Signed URLs protect documentary exchange. Discuss ultra-sensitive posture directly with Vanguard Control if out-of-band handling is required.

How do I post a role?

Approved principals submit approved job records through Vanguard Control workflows—scope, locations, grade expectation, compensation envelope and deployment window. Public listings appear on open roles when cleared for external recruitment.

Pricing and fees

Commercial models depend on mandate type—permanent placement, contract, retainer or project. Fees are agreed with principals before search activation and documented in commercial terms. Operatives do not pay platform access fees for standard registration.

Security

How is my data protected?

Encryption in transit and at rest underpins the stack. Administrative interfaces enforce multi-factor authentication. Document retrieval uses time-limited signed URLs; objects are not anonymously enumerable.

Who can see my information?

Operational staff with role-aligned access only. Database policies enforce separation—candidate dossiers do not bleed across unrelated principals. Audit thinking favours minimum necessary exposure.

How are documents stored?

Binary objects reside in private object storage; delivery is mediated through signed requests. Passport and CV artefacts never sit on public HTTP paths.

GDPR rights

Subject access, rectification, erasure (where not superseded by lawful retention), restriction and portability apply as described in our privacy policy. National security exemptions are narrowly construed; recruitment processing defaults to standard UK GDPR framework.

General

What is Vanguard Select?

A UK-focused close protection recruitment platform connecting vetted operatives with principals requiring rigorously matched security talent—built around structured briefs, grading and compliance transparency rather than inbox roulette.

Intelligence-led matching, explicit grade semantics (G1–G5), integrated compliance posture and candid status visibility for candidates—combined with principal-side oversight suited to risk-conscious organisations.

Which sectors do you cover?

Corporate executive protection, UHNWI residential and travel security, diplomatic-adjacent mandates where licensing permits, maritime and special-event deployments, and selected hostile-theatre requirements subject to client qualification.
